Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Ultrasonic testing is a non-destructive examination method used to detect internal flaws or discontinuities within a material. The test operates by transmitting high-frequency sound waves into the material. If a discontinuity exists, the sound wave will not pass through and will instead reflect back. These reflected signals are displayed on a screen, indicating the location of the defect. The inspector then interprets the signal and evaluates the identified flaw.
Ultrasonic testing is widely used for detecting internal defects and can be applied to almost all types of materials. This method utilizes a single-crystal transducer to generate ultrasonic waves, and the results are displayed as waveforms or signal graphs, which are analyzed to identify defects. UT has been used for many years and remains a highly popular method across various industries. common Applications of Ultrasonic Testing:

  • Weld inspection
  • Material quality assessment
  • Structural integrity testing
  • Inspection of pipes and systems in the petrochemical industry
  • Inspection in manufacturing industries
  • Aerospace inspection
  • Automotive industry inspection
  • Railway system inspection
